Easter/ Nathan's 6th Birthday!

Here are the boys on Easter/Nathan's 6th Birthday! What a morning- an egg hunt, Easter baskets, birthday presents, pancakes & easter eggs, and new spiffy outfits for church! We did more before 9 am than .... we usually do! Fun, but exhausting! We even had critters bite into the plastic eggs that the Easter Bunny left and steal the candy inside. I'm sure there is a squirrel or racoon out there with an upset tummy!

Jake's 2nd grade play

This was Jake's 2nd grade play. He got picked to be the main character out of all 4 second grade classes. (spoken like a true proud mama) He did a great job and our whole family was there to watch him do his thing. The costumes and scenery were so bright and creative. The message was to respect the earth and all living things. One person can make a difference.

Nathan's New Glasses

Nathan got his new glasses on Friday! Super cute, if I do say so myself. He looks so smart. And he likes them! His best friend, Jose, just got glasses last month so Nathan doesn't mind wearing his. Thanks, Jose! He bent them the first time he wore them- at basketball practice - oops! Guess he doesn't really need them during practice since he's farsighted. He wore them today to church and everyone commented on them so I think he enjoyed the attention. It seems like he gets all the medically challenging things- glasses, cavities, ezcema, potty trouble, and thumb sucking. We are working on all of it at the same time. Good thing he is usually a well behaved little guy. He continues to be excited about every little thing and his new glasses are no exception.

Okay so the CT scan came back already! I thought I'd have to wait 3 weeks for the results but she called 24 hours after the test. The nodule is still there on my right lung- but at least it hasn't spread!!! I'm very, very happy about that! After not knowing for over a year, I was fearful that it might just be all over my lungs. Especially since I was having such bad chest pains and coughing so much. The next step is to get some blood work done and maybe be referred to a pulmologist- a lung dr. And we'll take it from there....

Between Jake's wrestling and Nathan's basketball we have kept busy this winter- four practices during the week and each weekend one tournament and one basketball game- and Zack hasn't even started. I think we'll be in trouble with all three playing soccer. I'll be driving around like a mad woman! They are sure are cute though and their hugs, kisses, and smiles make it all worthwhile. I'm a lucky Mommy!

Zack's 4th Birthday

Zack's 4th birthday! He loved the cake and the attention, but our awesome kids' 4 wheel drive didn't go over like we thought. He was scared to death to ride on it. Maybe a bit too old for him! Opps!

80's Girls' Night at Church

Last Saturday we did an 80's girls' night at church called "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" and it was fun. We drank Shasta soda and had pink cake. We played an 80's movie title game and I came in 2nd and we formed rock bands and played 80s songs on Guitar Hero. I played Bass for The Pixies. We failed and never made it through the song. It was a fun evening.

We even voted for Best Costume and Biggest Hair. Before I left the house the boys thought I looked crazy and Rich's eyes got so big the first time he saw me. I also had to go through the Fort Belvoir gate to pick up a friend. I felt the need to explain myself to the gate guard lest she think I really dress that way! It was fun just to be silly for an evening.

Blueberry TOE JAM

I have some strange kids!

This is a picture of Zack eating blueberries with his toes YUCK where did he come up with this one?! He put the blueberry in between his 1st and 2nd toes and then brought his foot up to his mouth and then ate it from there. SO GROSS! What is up with that. I have no idea what he was thinking but now that he is sick with a fever and vomiting I just wish he would get back to his weird little self.

Happy Ground Hogs' Day! Looks like we have 6 more weeks of winter- bummer. But it was 60 degrees yesterday and today is 50 so I can handle that kind of winter.

These are the cupcakes I made for Nathan's kindergarten class- aren't they silly? I did them two years ago for Jake's kindergarten class and it was much easier/faster this time. I learned a few shortcuts.

We let the boys stay up and watch the Superbowl, but made them take long naps after church so they wouldn't be grumpy. They all did fine and even had super bowl veggie and meat and cheese trays for dinner. We had fun cheering on the teams and it was a great game! Jake, Rich and I were for the Steelers since we are going to be living in PA next year and Nathan and Zack weren't sure what Steelers were so the rooted for Arizona. They would cheer "Let's go, Birds!" They never called them Cardinals. It was really cute.

Gotta hit the showers now. I've recovered from my workout now- I was almost in tears on the way home from the gym. It was a tough one today.

Snow days

The boys had 3 1/2 days off school this week- two teacher workdays (euphemistically called "student holidays", one snow day, and a two-hour delay. This meant they only went to school for part of Thursday and all of Friday.

Also Awana and all sports were cancelled Tues- Thurs. They had quite the week- making snowman, sledding down our front yard, snow ball fights, hot chocolate, board games, a gingerbread house (we never had time at Christmas to build it so now it's a Valentine's house) and just goofing off in general.

Wanted to try posting photos to my blog to see how that goes. And so my mom will get her photo fix. So here goes nothing...

Hey this is my first blog and I'm just trying it out. The intro tour said that blogging began in 1999 so I guess I'm about 10 years behind the times. ... which I guess is pretty normal for me - being sort of non-technical and all. I always seem to somehow incapacitate electronics and not in a good way- I render them useless in just a few minutes and about 100 random button pushes. When asked what I pushed to get me to that point - more often than not I have tried every single button available and and most possible button combinations.

So I guess for me this is kind of monumentous. I just want to be able to share pictures with family mostly- well mostly because I got a lecture from my MOM about how I never send her photos of the boys. So here is my geniune attempt to be a better daughter by going outside my comfort level and reaching into new areas that I'm frankily scared of just for my mom. So here it goes. I swear first Facebook a few months ago and now my own blog----somebody stop me. I may actually sell something on ebay soon and get really crazy!
